Anthony had taken Kyoko when she was just 8 years old and vanished from Yono’s life. Reports suggest that Anthony took Kyoko away because he thought that he will lose the custody battle over his daughter. At that time, Yoko’s husband, John was a very wealthy and powerful individual while Anthony was just a starting film producer. So, he felt that Lennon would use his power to take his daughter away from him. Thus, Anthony took several drastic measures to get away from the eyes of Yoko and John. On 8 December 1980, Kyoko’s stepfather, John Lennon was shot to death. The killer Mark David Chapman was a Beatles fan and he was reportedly inspired by the fictional character Holden Caulfield from the novel, The Catcher in the Rye. He was planning to kill John for months.
He met John at the Dakota and later signed up to work together for the album Double Fantasy. When John and Yono went for a recording session, Chapman approached the entrance of the building and shot John with five bullets. He was 40.
She Met Her Mother Only After Getting Married
Although Kyoko had already revealed herself, she didn’t show up face-to-face even after that. She only sent a telegram to her mom expressing condolences on John’s death.
She only met Yoko after she engaged in a marital relationship. She got married to a lawyer, Jim Helfrich, and then finally decided to meet her mom. She was 34 at the time.

“I didn’t feel it right for me to become a mother without at least letting my mother know that I’m alive and well.”
